Bus Lane Enforcement

Priority bus corridor lanes since their introduction, have helped improve journey times for many commuters as well as providing a more reliable service from bus and taxi operators. With the growing problem of traffic congestion, it is critical that the bus lanes remain clear and unobstructed in order to sustain a quality transportation service.

Bus Lane enforcement, SMARTREG™ ANPR cameras, can help enforce driver compliance and prevent quality bus lanes from being abused by non-authorised motorists. SMARTREG™ ANPR cameras are designed to be easily pole mounted. The cameras are installed to monitor a bus lane for traffic and operate without the requirement for an external trigger. For each vehicle found in the bus lane, the ANPR system will determine the vehicle license number and compare it against a predefined list of authourised vehicles including buses, taxis and emergency vehicles. A record is kept for each unauthorised vehicle, including the date, time, location, vehicle registration number and an image of the vehicle. This information is sent to the head office for further processing.
